Strategic Plan 2019 – 2022

Dear Member of Burleigh Golf Club,

It is with pleasure that on behalf of the Burleigh Golf Club, I present to Members our Strategic Plan 2019 – 2022. The Plan outlines activities and improvements to be undertaken over the next four years, and also provides the opportunity for you as a Member of the Club, to provide your input to the plan over the next few months. I write this introduction after the Club has just received the Land Lease Payment from RetireAustralia and has now paid out the debt from the construction of the clubhouse. This leaves the Club debt-free for the first time in over 10 years.

The Club has just completed its third successive year of profitable trading and the cash generated each year by the Club will be enhanced by no longer having to make interest payments on debt. The Club is now positioned to undertake significant investment in improving the condition of the course through the investment in a new irrigation system, and also improved facilities for our greens’ staff via construction of a new greenkeepers’ shed. Expenditure for these projects will be made from the funds received from RetireAustralia. The positive trading position of the Club will also enable us to invest in additional course improvements from time to time as deemed appropriate.

The Board will document a Course Development Plan to provide an outline of these course improvements over the next four years. Our clubhouse is relatively new but is currently in need of maintenance, and will require maintenance annually. These improvements will be documented in a Clubhouse & Infrastructure Development Plan.

With sensible financial management, prudent administration of the Land Lease Fund, and the support of the Club’s Members, the Board is confident that improved golfing and social facilities will be provided in the coming years.
