Honour Board Event

Qualifying Round – Saturday, 29th June 2019

The Captain’s Trophy is restricted to:

  1. Life, Senior, Full, Full Conditional financial members, with a current Golf Australia – Men’s (GAM) handicap;
  2. Youth Members, with a current Golf Australia – Men’s (GAM) handicap; and
  3. Junior Members, with a current Golf Australia – Men’s (GAM) handicap.

Notes:

1.  All nominees must be a member of an eligible category of Membership at Burleigh Golf ;

  1. Members other than Life, Senior, Full, Full Conditional, Youth and Junior as specified above in A, B & C with a GAM handicap are not eligible to compete;
  2. Handicap limit is 27. Members with a greater handicap are allowed to play but are limited to 27 for both the Qualifying Event and Match Play.

 

Nomination and Time Sheets

  • To be eligible for the Captain’s Trophy all players must nominate prior to the start of play of the Qualifying Round of the Captain’s Trophy.
  • No nominations will be accepted after a player has commenced play in the Qualifying Round.
  • Nomination involves the payment of the Captain’s Trophy Fee, acknowledged by the starter, and must be paid prior to play in the Qualifying Round.
  • The Time Sheets will be available as per normal conditions.

Dates of Play

This year’s Captain’s Trophy will be held on the following dates:

Qualifying Round –    Saturday, 29th June 2019

Round 1 –                 Saturday, 6th July 2019

Round 2 –                 Saturday, 13th July 2019

Semi Final                Saturday, 20th July 2019

FINAL –                    Saturday, 27th July 2019

From Round 1 onwards, play is strictly in a seeded draw.

Captain’s Trophy Fee

The Captain’s Trophy Fee is $5.00 per Player (this is in addition to the competition fee of the day) and must be paid in full prior to play in the Qualifying Round.

Qualifying

Top sixteen (16) eligible players from the Qualifying Round will qualify for the 18 hole Match Play Knockout.  Positions will be decided by a count-back if required.

Conditions of Play

Rules

The rules of golf adopted by the Royal and Ancient Club and the local rules of the Burleigh Golf Club Limited will be the rules of play during the Captain’s Trophy.

The Local Rule “Alternative to Stroke and Distance for Lost Ball or Ball Out of Bounds” will not be in effect during the Championship.

 

Handicaps

For the duration of the Captain’s Trophy handicaps will remain as at the Qualifying Round of the Captain’s Trophy.

The lowest handicap player in each match returns to scratch. His opponent reduces his handicap by the same margin.

Holes where strokes are received will be as per the Match Index on the Scorecard.

 

Play

All play is from the Black Markers.

Play is to be in groups of four at seven minute intervals as per the automatic draw (positions will be determined by count back).

All play for the qualifying players is reserved in the Saturday afternoon field only

Failure to play in the allocated reserved spots will result in disqualification.

 

Motorised buggies

Motorised buggies are permitted.

 

Ties

Play will continue until a result is determined, continuing from the 1st hole.

 

Competition of the Day

Captain’s Trophy Knockout contestants are not eligible to contest the event of the day, but are eligible for the NTPs and may enter the Pro Pin competition (extra fee applies).

 

Disputes and protests

Disputes and protests are to be in writing to the Match Committee not later than 15 minutes after the finish of the round.

Suspensions

Suspension of play will be signified by continuous short blasts of an electric hooter.  Players must stop play at once and must not make another stroke until the Match Committee resumes play. When play is suspended mark the place where the balls lies and await further instructions.

Control

The Match Committee will be in control of the competition and their decision is final.
