Walk-behind electric push-carts

In light of the recent fire at Eastern Golf Club in Victoria, caused by lithium-ion batteries on charge inside the building which resulted in the total destruction of their clubhouse, and yesterday’s fire at Brisbane Golf Club, we are making the following policy change at Burleigh Golf Club.

Walk-behind electric push-carts – effective immediately, the batteries of walk-behind electric push-carts will no longer be permitted to be charged at the Club. Members will still be able to store the push-cart here, should they have such an arrangement with the Pro Shop, however the battery will no longer be permitted to be charged at the Club. This is irrespective of both the battery type, and where the push-cart is stored. Any battery of a walk-behind electric push-cart that is found to be on-charge at the club will be removed from the cart and charge outlet, and the push-cart itself will no longer be permitted to be housed at the Club.

We will have an insurance update communicated to Members early next week covering motorised golf buggies, personal accident, and golf equipment.
