Communication with Government Representatives – Youth Misconduct on Electric Bikes

Dear Members,

The Board of Burleigh Golf Club wishes to inform all members that we have formally communicated with local, state, and federal government representatives regarding the ongoing illegal and antisocial behaviour by youths on electric bikes affecting our course and surrounding areas.

Over recent weeks, the Club has experienced multiple incidents involving trespass, property damage, and threatening behaviour by groups of youths entering the course from nearby council land. These actions have created an unsafe environment for members, guests, and neighbouring facilities.

To ensure that this matter receives the urgent attention it deserves, we have written to the following representatives:

  • To: Mr Ray Stevens MP, State Member for Mermaid Beach
  • To: Cr Nick Marshall OAM, Councillor for Division 12, City of Gold Coast
  • To: Mayor Tom Tate, Mayor of the City of Gold Coast
  • CC: Ms Angie Bell MP, Member for Moncrieff
  • CC: Mr Hermann Vorster MP, State Member for Burleigh
  • CC: Hon David Crisafulli, Premier of Queensland

Our correspondence outlines the repeated incidents, the risks posed to community safety, and our call for immediate and coordinated action by all levels of government, and Queensland Police.

We will continue to update members as we receive responses or further developments on this issue. We thank all members for their patience, cooperation, and vigilance as we work to ensure the safety and security of our Club and community.

Kind regards,
The Board and Management
Burleigh Golf Club
